Olive Ferguson Cornwell was born in 1932 & grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina. This collection is inspired by quilts that were passed down to my mother and then to myself, from my grandmother Olive. Olive’s aunt, Grace quilted them by hand in 1929 in Ehrhardt, South Carolina. I adore these quilts and their history and importance to my family. I believe that textiles should be cherished, taken care of, and passed down through generations. While admiring these quilts, I envisioned a way to preserve their designs for longer than the cloth will last, through print & pattern. Along with my grandmother’s quilts, this collection of prints is inspired by Southern folk art and quilt motifs from the 19th century.
